In short: Gates of Hades is a 6x6 cluster-pays slot that drops the pay-anywhere maths of Gates of Olympus: a win needs at least five symbols touching horizontally or vertically, and the reel multipliers stay put through a whole free-spins round.

Two pay rules sit behind these grids, and the one here changes what a session feels like. Every Hades figure below came off the game's own rules screen, which we read end to end on .

Alternatives in Detail
Why look for a replacement: Olympus runs on a 6x5 grid, and the shape of a win there has stayed put with it: count the matching symbols, ignore where they sit. That is a clean rule. It also gives the eye very little to follow, because a paying combination on Olympus can sit scattered across six reels with gaps between every symbol. Hades asks for contact instead. Five symbols, edge to edge, across or down. Written out the difference sounds minor, though on screen it changes what you watch, since a cluster grows from somewhere and you can see it coming two tumbles before it pays. Multiplier behaviour then splits the two cleanly. Olympus gathers its orb values and applies them to the win. Hades parks each value in a meter above the reel it landed on. Only the meters standing over a winning cluster count, and every one of them holds for a whole free-spins round. A 100x meter above an untouched reel therefore pays nothing here, which is the detail most comparisons skip. The Hades column below carries figures because we opened the client on 28 September 2026 and worked through every rules screen in it. The Olympus column mostly does not, and that is deliberate. We have never played it. Copying its return, its ante price or its spin counts off a listing is a mistake. That is exactly how the two games' numbers end up swapped on affiliate pages. What we can say about Hades on its own terms is narrower. The Super buy costs 500x the stake and returns 96.47% in theory, below the 96.52% of ordinary play. The ceiling is a hard 10,000x that ends a round on contact. Our own 27 logged base spins paid six times, a 22.2% hit rate. Those are the figures to weigh, and none of them describes the older game.
Gates of Hades
A 6x6 underworld grid released on , built for players who would rather watch a cluster grow than count symbols strewn across the screen. We played it in the studio's own demo on , at a $2.00 stake, and read all seven rules pages. Every figure on this page comes from that client, not from a catalogue. The base game ran cold for long stretches. Then it paid $36.00 on a single three-tumble round, which is roughly the texture that medium volatility badge promises. Across 27 logged base spins at that stake we saw six paying rounds, a hit rate of 22.2%, and a best base result of $36.00 built on two meters adding to 30x. The bought rounds behaved differently again, returning 39.35x, 1,853.5x and 158.75x, which is the spread rather than an average and should be read that way.
Better than Gates of Olympus
A win is a shape you can watch form, five or more symbols linked side by side or one above the other.
Reel meters hold their multipliers for a whole free-spins round instead of clearing after every spin.
The stake you set is the stake you pay, because the only paid shortcut here is the buy itself.
The 10,000x ceiling is stated twice in the rules, once for base play and once for free spins.
Two buy prices, at 100x for the ordinary feature and 500x for the Super round.
Weaker
The Super buy drops the theoretical return to 96.47%, below the 96.52% of ordinary play, at a cost of 500x the stake.
Our own run paid on 6 of 27 logged base spins, so the quiet stretches are real.
Game History sits greyed out in demo mode, which leaves a free session impossible to audit afterwards.
Gates of Olympus Super Scatter
A separate Pragmatic Play release from April 2025 that keeps turning up in searches meant for this game. We list it for one reason: to keep its numbers away from the ones above. Every figure we publish for Hades came out of a client we opened ourselves, and applying that standard here would mean playing this one too. Readers arrive at that title through the same autocomplete that serves this one. The two share a studio, a mythology and half a name. That is more than enough for figures to migrate between them in a hurry.
Better than Gates of Olympus
Shares the series name, so it answers a different question for anyone who already knows the older grid.
Weaker
Our knowledge of it stops at the name, so its return figure, grid size and ceiling stay off this page entirely.
Autocomplete pushes it at anyone typing the Hades name, which is how the two get muddled in the first place.
Zeus vs Hades: Gods of War
A Pragmatic Play title readers regularly mistake for this one, named here purely to keep the two apart. The confusion is worth saying out loud. Affiliate pages routinely attach this game's wild ceiling and its maximum win to Hades, and both figures belong to a 5x5 release with its own paytable. Any page mixing them is quoting a game it did not open. The practical test is simple. Where a page quotes a wild ceiling or a maximum win for this game, check whether it also names the grid. Those two numbers separate the releases better than anything else.
Better than Gates of Olympus
Shares the underworld theme, so it lands in the same searches and the same shortlists.
Weaker
Its numbers stay deliberately off this page, because we have yet to open it.
It runs on a different grid with different maths, so everything above stops at its door.
Key Terms Used on This Page
Cluster
A block of at least five matching symbols joined edge to edge, across or down the 6x6 grid; diagonal contact never counts.
Tumble
Winning symbols clear, then refill from above, repeating with no published limit until a spin leaves no cluster behind.
Multiplier meter
The counter above a reel that collects wild values from 1x to 100x in base play, rising to 500x during free spins.
Super Free Spins
The rule lifting the lowest possible wild multiplier to 10x, reached with 6 or more scatters or a 500x buy.
Ante bet
A paid uplift to the stake that buys a better bonus chance; across all 7 Hades rules pages there is none.
